On-Site Visitor Policies
This document sets out expectations for behaviour at the Gaelic Museum and for the services we reference. Walking into the museum or using the site counts as agreement; we refresh the wording each year.
Code of Conduct
Show respect for collections, team members, and other guests. Basics include:
- Treat all exhibits, artefacts, and displays with care; do not touch items unless explicitly invited to do so
- Keep voices low and considerate inside galleries
- Follow all instructions given by museum staff
- Do not bring food or drink into gallery spaces (water in sealed bottles is permitted)
- Supervise children at all times
- Do not use flash photography or tripods without prior arrangement
- Switch mobile phones to silent mode in gallery spaces
- Report any damage or safety concerns to museum staff immediately
Anyone breaching the code may be asked to leave without compensation.

Accessibility Policy
Inclusive design spans step-free paths, large-print guides, described tours, quieter morning slots, and assistance animals. For tailored help, email the museum at least two days ahead.
Group Visit Policy
- Groups of 10 or more must book in advance (minimum 14 days' notice)
- A designated group coordinator must be identified at the time of booking
- Groups must arrive together and check in as a group
- Maximum group size for self-guided visits is 30 persons
- Groups larger than 30 must be split into sub-groups with separate entry times
- School groups must provide a teacher-to-student ratio of at least 1:10
Complaints Policy
Written complaints get an acknowledgement within two working days and a fuller answer within ten. Write via email or the contact form; if still unhappy, Ireland’s CCPC or UK Citizens Advice can advise next steps.
